[As per usual, Yuri's spending his morning today in the battle dome ... although, for those who've seen him in there a decent amount of times, they may notice something different. Like the fact that he seems to be using a mid-sized axe instead of a sword this time around. It even seems to be making some of his artes look and act a little differently as well.

He also has a sword leaning against the room he's using - namely the katana Luke got him for Christmas. Occasionally, during breaks in his training, he'll wander over to it and pick it up, as if thinking about something related to it, but he always ends up putting it back down again.

Feel free to interrupt his session at any point! The monsters he's fighting don't seem to be challenging him very much, to begin with.]

Got a bit of a question for everyone. Which do you think is better - swords, or axes?

As for you all, I figured I should let you know that I'll be trying to do a little recruiting around the end of the month. I'm planning on doing the usual through-the-journal kind, but if anyone's got a better idea, let me know.

... Actually, if anyone's got any ideas for the guild at all, now's a good time to tell me. Especially if it'd help us stand out a little more as something other than some kind of construction group.

In that case, don't try it for yourself. Trip and fall while swinging a sword and axe around, and it'll more than likely be the last thing you do.

I truly doubt it depends on their utility, at least. What use could a dragon have for a sword or spear?

Axes don't provide much versatility, do they?

There are some that are pretty long, in spite of the name. A few years ago I started selling a line of basket-hilt small swords that were a full thirty-three inches in length, for instance. Those were pretty popular, so I would assume there would be at least one like that here in Luceti.

[He wasn't actually measuring the swords in the shop, of course, so he can't recall off the top of his head whether one's around at the moment.]

I feel like I should say axes, but...it really just depends on your strengths and what kind of fight you're in.

That is one drawback to the axe as a weapon, the times where it would be more useful than a sword are limited. I know I am finding it hard to think of another besides chopping wood.

Probably a little of both. I think I'd be nervous fighting near it, even if that person was on my side. What if they slipped and hurt somebody?

First of all bullet are not rocks. And excuse me, but I don't like getting hurt. Standing away from enemies is definitely safer than standing near them.

Using a sword is faster and more precise, since the weight and head of an axe makes it less aerodynamic. The axe's center of balance makes it more difficult to perform complicated artes, as well.

Axes are a bit too heavy, I'd say. [Not that he has any idea how to wield either.]

Yeah. And the Malnosso kind of have the market cornered on 'reward system' anyway.

Or they could even end up focusing on one weapon and accidentally hit someone with the other. Either way, it doesn't sound like a good combination of weapons to be swinging around at the same time.

That requires some pretty specific circumstances, you know. It could be a while before we get any new members if we did things that way.

Well, if it's some kind of humanoid dragon, then I guess it'd have a use, but otherwise ...

'Sides, a sword isn't as good for anything but cutting.

Depending on the weight, they can end up hitting a lot harder than a sword can. Aside from that, though, I can't really think of much else either.
