[As per usual, Yuri's spending his morning today in the battle dome ... although, for those who've seen him in there a decent amount of times, they may notice something different. Like the fact that he seems to be using a mid-sized axe instead of a sword this time around. It even seems to be making some of his artes look and act a little differently as well.

He also has a sword leaning against the room he's using - namely the katana Luke got him for Christmas. Occasionally, during breaks in his training, he'll wander over to it and pick it up, as if thinking about something related to it, but he always ends up putting it back down again.

Feel free to interrupt his session at any point! The monsters he's fighting don't seem to be challenging him very much, to begin with.]

Got a bit of a question for everyone. Which do you think is better - swords, or axes?

As for you all, I figured I should let you know that I'll be trying to do a little recruiting around the end of the month. I'm planning on doing the usual through-the-journal kind, but if anyone's got a better idea, let me know.

... Actually, if anyone's got any ideas for the guild at all, now's a good time to tell me. Especially if it'd help us stand out a little more as something other than some kind of construction group.

Definitely swords. Axes can have the advantage of looking a lot more impressive, but swords are a lot more versatile and can be used in a wider variety of fighting styles.

I'll admit that rods can be pretty dangerous if you use them a certain way, but otherwise ... well, I'll just take your word for it. [ ... ] ... But, y'know, I've never really seen an axe-user around, either. It almost makes me want to use them more just to say I can.

I find both to be perfectly good weapons, but I personally favor swords.

A sword. Unless you are chopping wood, then an axe would be better.

Not really - especially if they're made from heavy materials. They can hit harder than most other weapons, though.

I feel like I should say axes, but...it really just depends on your strengths and what kind of fight you're in.

[If you're Hiccup, you can't wield either very well.]

Yeah, true. Although, if you do it that way, then you'd kind of have to keep training yourself in both. And that can get a little messy if you mix up how to wield them while you're fighting.

Using a sword is faster and more precise, since the weight and head of an axe makes it less aerodynamic. The axe's center of balance makes it more difficult to perform complicated artes, as well.

I think swords compliment your fighting style the most, Yuri.

Yeah, I think so too. I wasn't really too keen on switching over to something else, anyway.
