[Action]

[As per usual, Yuri's spending his morning today in the battle dome ... although, for those who've seen him in there a decent amount of times, they may notice something different. Like the fact that he seems to be using a mid-sized axe instead of a sword this time around. It even seems to be making some of his artes look and act a little differently as well.

He also has a sword leaning against the room he's using - namely the katana Luke got him for Christmas. Occasionally, during breaks in his training, he'll wander over to it and pick it up, as if thinking about something related to it, but he always ends up putting it back down again.

Feel free to interrupt his session at any point! The monsters he's fighting don't seem to be challenging him very much, to begin with.]

Got a bit of a question for everyone. Which do you think is better - swords, or axes?

As for you all, I figured I should let you know that I'll be trying to do a little recruiting around the end of the month. I'm planning on doing the usual through-the-journal kind, but if anyone's got a better idea, let me know.

... Actually, if anyone's got any ideas for the guild at all, now's a good time to tell me. Especially if it'd help us stand out a little more as something other than some kind of construction group.

[Give how irritated she sounds? ... Yeaaaah, the choice is pretty clear.]

I think a brief one on video should be fine for now.

Fine. [ The feed clicks on to show Tenten holding a scroll as large as her torso. ] What weapons do you want to see first?

[Huh? Weird. What's with the scroll? ... Well, whatever. He just shrugs a little.]

Well, you chose swords before, so we'll go with that.

[ Tenten nods and flings the scroll upwards. Out of the scrolls come two very bright, white lights that eventually fade into twin curved scimitars as they fall perfectly into her hand. She grips both of them very tightly before giving Yuri a strong nod as a way to verify if he's watching. ]

[That ... would explain how it's even remotely possible for her to have any amount of the proficiency she was claiming before. He'll give a small nod back, so she knows that he's paying attention.]

[ With this, she sets down the journal so it can capture her as she begins to move her arms into an x-formation with both swords before sweeping out ward. As she turns around, she makes another upwards swipe before dexterously changing the grip in her other hand to block and counter attack some type of attack before turning around and lunging again. She'll continue a pattern of expert and precise movements that definitely do show off quite an amount of variety and expertise. ]

[... Interesting. He's not sure if it's due to that scroll of hers or if she's just naturally good, but expertise is expertise.

He'll just continue watching for now. It's not very often that someone offers to show off their skills, after all!

[ Eventually, Tenten tosses the swords up and unveils her scroll again, summoning a single Axe which she twirls at a very rapid speed. After a brief glance of the weapon itself, she swings the axe down past the two blades, managing to break the blades of both weapons. She stops and gets into position, holding the axe a bit behind her head with her other hand reaching forward. She gazes to the journal waiting for him to confirm what he saw so she can resume. ]

[~~Sorry, he went off to make a sandwich and missed the whole thing, you'll need to start over Tenten~~ ... Well. That's certainly not something he expected to see out of this. Axes too, huh ... And really, he'd call what she just did a waste of metal, but given where they came from, it's excusable.

Regardless, when he sees her looking at the journal, he guesses it's for confirmation of some kind. So, he nods.]

[ ~~Tenten has an intense enemy dislike for sandwiches. This would anger her.~~

Tenten begins to twirl the axe once more with her bare hand and wrist. She does seem to move her hand before nodding and beginning. She takes a swift but powerful swing downwards before hurling it back up with the momentum. It appears she almost lost control for a second executing the powerful move but she skillfully regains it and completes a combo of much smaller supposed slashes. She then flips the weapon to the side and tosses it into her other hand which begins to resume the intricate patter of slashes which eventually become coupled in with a couple of kicks and a shoulder barge. She's definitely not stopping any time soon. ]

[Either that axe is really light, or this girl is seriously strong. Whichever it is, Yuri's feeling a lot better for choosing this route when it comes to her demonstration - if he actually went to meet her and mouthed off, well ... let's just say he's not interested in getting her too ticked off with him any time soon.

Regardless, he's pretty impressed at this point. And still watching. Definitely doing that.]

[ It's a standard axe. Tenten's dexterity makes strength a secondary issue but thanks to being a ninja, she can somewhat strengthen herself by concentrating her chakra into her arm.

She quickly dives and rolls, swinging up the axe into the air and then taking out the scroll. She waves the scroll around her and opens up the scroll as the axe begins to crash back down towards her. In a puff of smoke, the axe is gone and the scroll is one more just an average scroll. Tenten doesn't even bother gazing at Yuri to ask the question- ]

How'd you like that?

... Pretty impressive. I guess I'll have to take back what I said earlier.

Heh. Thanks. I've been practicing every weapon I can get my hands on for half a decade now. It's amazing how fast time flies when you're having fun.

[ She finally turns to him and sits down. ]

Now is there any particular reason for the question you asked earlier?

Not entirely. I just happened to be practicing with an axe today and just ... felt like asking.

So you're both skilled with a sword and an axe? Hmph. Definitely interesting. Not as versatile as me though. [ SHE DISPROVED YOU SHE CAN DO THIS! ] But it is nice to see someone able to wield more than one weapon.

[He'll give her a bit of a look at that "versatile" comment, but whatever, she kinda earned the right to say that. FOR NOW ...]

I use my fists as well, if you count that at all. [slight pause, then--] Though, honestly, I haven't really seen many people here who actually do use more than one weapon. It's usually just one thing.

[ TENTEN IS ALL ABOUT EARNING HER RIGHTS FOR GLOATING PURPOSES... ]

Taijutsu? Yeah. I suppose I can count that since I practice in that too, though not as skilled as I am with a weapon. You do hold a point though, most people don't specialize more than one weapon but I can see why. Learning one is taxing enough.

[Taijustsu? ... Yuri didn't realize "punching things till they fall down" had a special name. That's interesting.]

That makes sense. Unless the two weapons are similar enough to each other, learning more than one is pretty difficult. Especially if you want to be good with both.

[ Giving complex names to simple things makes you seem sophisticated! ]

Yeah, I wonder why it's always been hard for someone to learn a weapon. I never had that difficulty. I'd like to see how the other side lives, but I wouldn't want to experience it. [ cause then she'd be defenseless. ]

Heh, you make it sound like anyone who can use a weapon is part of some kind of exclusive club, or something.

Well, back home using one weapon is considered rare when you have things like ninjutsu and stuff. Not everyone has the patience to learn to use one too.

... Yeah, I guess that's true. It's not like everyone where I'm from can use weapons, either. [ ... ] Anyway, the lives of the "other side" aren't all that exciting, honestly. You're not missing much.

Sometimes people from my home use weapons but they're usually legendary swords or some other legendary items, or a type of weapon that manipulates a particular element. [ She shrugs. ] Yeah, but I still want to know why they can't use weapons or won't use them at least.

Well, from what I've seen, people either don't have the time, don't see the need where there are others around who are supposed to be protecting them anyway, or are just scared to. [shrug] Probably different reasons from world to world, though.
